While heading home one evening, I heard a man angrily berating a woman in a park. His harsh words and aggressive behavior, “You’re useless! Can’t you do anything right?” were deeply disturbing. Despite bystanders’ glances, no one intervened.
Fueled by anger and a sense of urgency, I recorded the abuse on my phone, capturing his outburst and the woman’s distress. When the man noticed, he charged at me. “Documenting your behavior,” I said, trying to deter him. Seeing the crowd with their phones out, his anger shifted towards them, and he eventually left.
I comforted the woman and offered support, while a lawyer among the crowd provided her with contact information. Later, the woman thanked me for my help and shared that she had left her abuser and was seeking legal assistance.
Uploading the video online, it quickly went viral, drawing attention and sparking discussions about domestic violence. My actions, though small, had a significant impact, reminding us all of our power to make a difference.
