Angela, a top student from a family of scientists, excelled academically but secretly yearned to be an actress. Despite her passion for drama, her parents dismissed it as a “temporary hobby” and pressured her to focus on academics.
One day, her father, Abe, discovered Angela recording a distressed tape in her room. He found out she was being bullied at school through the tape’s recordings. Abe, initially misled by the scene, rushed to school and found Angela on stage being harassed by classmates. To his shock, it was a rehearsal for a play about bullying.
Angela revealed to Abe that she had kept her acting passion secret because her parents did not support it. Realizing their mistake, Abe and his wife Lisa attended Angela’s play, where they were amazed by her talent. They apologized and supported her dreams, which led to Angela landing a role at a local theater.
Lesson: Support your children’s passions and talents, even if they differ from your expectations.
