A North Fort Myers woman, 21-year-old Arielle Valdes, was found dead five days after disappearing during a run, leading to a county-wide search. Her remains were discovered on September 2, 2024, along the Caloosahatchee River.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office had deployed extensive resources, including drones, K9 teams, and forensics, to locate her. They confirmed that no foul play was suspected, and the Major Crimes Unit is working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. “Our hearts remain with Arielle’s family,” the Sheriff’s office stated.
Valdes had gone for a run on August 28, and despite efforts by her family and authorities, her body was found days later. Her sister, Isabella, expressed heartbreak on Facebook, saying, “Ari, you were too good for this world. I love you.” The family is now mourning their loss, with ongoing support from the community.
