Maternity leave was supposed to be a time of bonding with my newborn, but it turned into a nightmare because of my coworker, Emily. Her audacity tested our patience and forced us to protect our family.
My name is Katie. Recently, my husband Mark and I moved and prepared for our first baby. Despite the overwhelming changes, I continued giving Emily rides to work, as she had no other options. However, with my maternity leave approaching, she panicked about transportation.
“Can’t you help me out?” Emily pleaded. “No, driving with a newborn at 6 a.m. isn’t possible,” I replied. She even suggested Mark drive her, which I found absurd.
One morning, our car was gone. Emily had taken it with her boyfriend, having found the spare key. “It’s my boyfriend. He’s driving me to work since you didn’t,” she said smugly. Mark firmly told her, “I don’t want to see you around my wife, my baby, or our house ever again.”
After changing our locks and installing a security system, Emily messaged, “Sorry for everything. Won’t bother you again.” We moved on, grateful for our strengthened bond and newfound peace.
