Lifelong friends Eleanor and Lucy’s Monday gatherings take a tense turn when a shocking revelation about their children’s secret relationship surfaces. As they rest and chat after babysitting their grandkids, Lucy suddenly bursts out, “I’m mad as hell! My son decided to do everything on his own. Can you imagine, I found this rag at his apartment?!”
Eleanor recognizes the clothes as her daughter’s. Lucy, angry and judgmental, declares, “She doesn’t deserve my son. Period. And be sure, I’ll get rid of her!” Eleanor defends the unknown girl, suggesting, “Maybe there’s an explanation. Barney’s a grown man, after all.”
That evening, Eleanor speaks to her daughter, Emily, who admits, “I’m dating Barney.” Eleanor, supportive but concerned, advises, “Just be honest with each other and patient with us. We’ll figure it out together.”
Later, when Lucy asks for a discount from Eleanor’s daughter, a dentist, Eleanor retorts, “A woman of easy virtue doesn’t deserve to cure your teeth anymore.” Lucy, realizing her mistake, apologizes. Eleanor insists, “My daughter is a wonderful person, and she deserves respect.” The friends move forward with newfound respect and understanding.
